Dear ,
This is the coldest spring I can remember but I’m still having a particularly good one. The news this month is big and I’m still pinching myself: Back in February I applied for a Visiting Research Fellowship in the Creative Arts, with a focus on Book Arts, at Merton College in Oxford. I had a follow-up interview last week – and I was accepted! This means I’ll be Oxford-based for the last quarter of 2024, immersing myself in research and discussion with a view to create a special artist book. That’s all I’ll say for now!
Till next month, may the sun remember us,
Joumana
Lately on Caravanserai:

Here are two boxes that are not actually new! They date back to 2022, but I only recently got around to cleaning up the photos and finally reveal them to the world.
Box of Capricorn, Interactive assemblage in box form with symbolic objects. 33x23x15 cm
Box of Scorpio, Interactive assemblage in box form with symbolic objects. 34x23x11 cm
I’m holding a Qarmatian Kufi weekend for a small class of no more than 5-6 people, in central London, on June 15-16. This is an advanced class and you must have already taken my Manuscript Kufi course, either in person or online (or commit to taking the latter by June) as we will pick up from there. As this is a challenging style, we will focus on practicing the ductus and script grammar, with no final project. The cost is £160 including materials and there are only 3 slots available!
